While we wait...

It has been a long process and a steep learning curve getting an outside-the-box practice started. It has been painful to see former patients without healthcare resources and not be able to help them. We hope to offer some advise for receiving care in the Mariposa area in this interim period.

Medical Records

If you were a former Horisons patient, I advise you obtain a copy of your medical record. The organization is filing for bankruptcy and your records may be more difficult to obtain in the future. According to a sign posted on their doors in July, requests for medical records must be made in writing, including the name, date of birth, last four digits of social security number, dates of service requested, and where records can be faxed or mailed (must be a home address). It should be signed and mailed to 936 West Main Street, Merced, CA 95340. It also mentions they accept walk-in requests Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. It mentions a possible charge for printed requests. To verify hours, call the number provided, (209) 383-5200. Please note that I am not in any way connected to this company any longer. I recommend you receive a copy of your record directly so you can carry it with you should you have any urgent issues. We will be able to receive patient records by fax closer to our opening date (which is to be announced), but we are not able to make requests for you because it is protected medical information.

Medical Care

If you require medical care immediately, I recommend contacting the Camarena Health clinic in Oakhurst. They are accepting new patients and I have heard of several individuals who were able to schedule same or next day appointments with a physician assistant. From Google, their information is as follows:

Camarena Health - Oakhurst Health Center Phone: (559) 664-4000 Saturday Closed Sunday Closed Monday 8AM–5PM Tuesday 8AM–5PM Wednesday 8AM–5PM Thursday 8AM–5PM

Friday 8AM–5PM

If your child needs to see a pediatrician, my family has had a positive personal experience with Dr. Linne Curtis at Adventist Health in Oakhurst, their number is (559) 683-2711.

If you know of a provider accepting new patients in the Merced area, post it below, as I am not currently aware of any providers. They were highly impacted by the closure of Horisons' other clinics as well.

If you have Medi-Cal through Mariposa County, I have been informed that the John C. Fremont clinic is not accepting new patients, and the Indian Health Clinic is scheduling out 4 months. I have also heard indirectly that Indian Health does not treat chronic pain with medication, so you may want to verify that information before waiting 4 months for an appointment. If you want to see one of the doctors in Oakhurst, we understand that they currently accept the County Anthem plan through Medi-Cal, not the CA Health and Wellness plan. You may be able to change your plan by calling Kim at Mariposa County Healthcare Options at (209) 966-2000.
